Η εταιρία ρίχνει το πρώτο της μοντέλο σε μια σειρά απλών mini-PCs και λέει πως θα απευθυνθεί σε system integrators ειδικά για digital signage solutions λύσεις και επιχειρηματικές ανάγκες…
Η νέα ιδέα της εταιρίας είναι το Next Unit of Computing (NUC) και έχουν σχέδια για τρεις NUC συσκευές σε ένα 10cmx10cmx5cm σασί που πωλείται σε kits ή απλό board με υποστήριξη για Core i3 και το QS77 Express chipset.
Ο κος Kamil Gurgen της Intel Australia το περιγράφει ως “the guts of an ultrabook”.

Το πρώτο μοντέλο είναι το DC3217BY με core i3 i3-3217U CPU, 3 USB 2.0, ένα HDMI και Thunderbolt όπως και VESA mounting bracket για να κουμπώσει σε μόνιτορ: “In emerging countries like Malaysia and Thailand, digital signage is going through the roof,” είπε ο Gurgen στο The Reg. “They need a small and simple computer that is fast enough to handle it.”
Η εταιρία περιμένει να τα ετοιμάσουν τα mini-PCIe μ solid state storage καθώς έχει full-length slot mSATA-ready και μια μισή slot είναι για WiFi ή Bluetooth μοντούλα.
System builders will need to come aboard as the devices lack memory, storage and an operating system.
Gurgen said he understands roadmaps for the NUC range suggest it will adopt Intel’s “good better best” motto, adding Celeron processors for low end devices and then reaching all the way up to the Core i7.
Πάντως και για ένα απλό Windows 8 καλό ακούγεται. Το πρώτο NUC, το DC3217BY, θα πωλείται αυτό το μήνα με twin-HDMI-and-HD-graphics-4000-equipped μοντέλο, το DC3217IYE τον Δεκέμβρη και το τρίτο στο Νέο Έτος.
