Μιλάμε για το επόμενο Land Rover Defender, που θα φτάσει το 2015 και θα είναι σχεδιασμένο για να είναι “incredibly distinctive”, όπως λέει ο σχεδιαστής της εταιρίας, κος Gerry McGovern. Όπως περιγράφει: “This thing, I can assure you, will be incredibly distinctive. You’ll look at it and say, ‘That is a modern-day Defender’, and there will be nothing else like it. This car will be the bollocks, I assure you. The absolute dog’s bollocks.” Αυτά είπε στο CarAdvice, και σημείωσε πως το Defender ΔΕΝ θα είναι σαν τα DC100 concepts.
Μάλιστα θα επεκταθεί και το Defender lineup…
“There’s an opportunity to spin it in different ways, and different versions. Look at Defender when it first started – there was a lot of proliferation in terms of different types of Defenders, pick-ups and all types of things,” σχολιάζει με τον υπεύθυνο της Land Rover να σημειώνει πως το all-new Defender θα είναι όπως τα Range Rover και Range Rover Sport πιο ελαφρύ και με χρήση αλουμινίου.
“Aluminum is something that we’re good at and we’ve started to use a lot more of. It offers massive savings in terms of weight, which means our engines can get smaller, and also sustainability, so that will be very much on the cards as a material that is ideal for us,” είπε McGovern και η εταιρία ελπίζει σε πολύ περισσότερες πωλήσεις από τις 15,000 το έτος για φέτος…
