Η ανακοίνωση τη Google πως αποσύρει τον Reader της στα τέλη του μήνα, έχει κάνει την ομάδα του Digg να ετοιμάζει όπως έχουμε πει τον δικό της news reader.
Μια μικρή ομάδα του Digg ετοιμάζει και το site, και μια companion mobile app για iOS με την έκδοση για Android να χρειάζεται λίγο ακόμη και λανσάρισμα στις 26 Ιουνίου.
Το Digg δίνει όμως και preview, ένα screenshot: “Given the compressed time frame for this sprint, we decided early on that we needed to focus on one type of user. We asked ourselves who had most to lose from the shutdown of Google Reader, and the answer was fairly obvious: the power user, the people who depend on the availability, stability, and speed of Reader every day,” εξηγεί στο Digg.
Εστιάζουν δε σε ταχύτητα, απλότητα και ενσωμάτωση του Google Reader με ένα ‘καθαρό’ interface στο site που υποστηρίζει “subscribing, sharing, saving and organizing” ενώ υπόσχονται καλύτερο sorting και εργαλεία ranking, search, notifications που θα έρθουν αργότερα.
“We mentioned in a prior post that Digg Reader will ultimately be a ‘freemium’ product. But we’re not going to bait-and-switch. All of the features introduced next week, as well as many others yet to come, will be part of the free experience,” λέει το Digg.
