Ένας σχεδιαστής, ο streetwear designer Heron Preston έκανε κάτι πολύ έξυπνο. Πλησίασε τη NASA πριν από 5 χρόνια και προσφέρθηκε να σχεδιάσει τις μελλοντικές τους spacesuits. Και ο κ.Preston κατάφερε κάτι παραπάνω: να πάρει μια συμφωνία για outerwear που θα γιορτάζουν τα 60 Χρόνια Διαστημικής Εξερεύνησης!
Τη συλλογή θα βρει κανείς στο site του και περιλαμβάνει— καπέλα, T-shirts, jacket, hoodies, παντελόνια, κάλτσες, ζώνη, αλλά και ένα καταπληκτικό backpack που έχει σαν έμπνευση το σύστημα παροχής οξυγόνου του Apollo!
“I designed the entire collection based on their spacesuits and so I did a bunch of research,” είπε ο Preston και όταν έκανε κάτι άλλο: εκτόξευσε μια κούκλα με τα ρούχα στον ουρανό: “These guys are going up to space to push humanity into the future.
“You have to move around a lot, you have to be able to hold tools, and so that is why the bag is designed to be multi-convertible, multi-functional into three parts,” he added. “It is a tote bag, the fanny pack and then it is also a backpack — all in one. And it is designed in the shape of a square, which is just like the backpacks that astronauts wear when they do spacewalks.”
Το σημαντικό είναι πως έχουμε το iconic “worm” logo της περιόδου 1976 με 1992, τα χρώματα όμως με βάση τη συμφωνία είναι μόνο κόκκινο, γκρί, άσπρο και μαύρο ενώ το iconic NASA logo ΔΕΝ θα μπορούσε να μπει μαζί με οποιοδήποτε άλλο logo ή σχήμα.
”This is the Fall/Winter 2018 collection,” λέει ο κ.Preston αν και “it says ‘Fall/Winter 1990’ in respect to the actual time that the logo was actually used. 1990 was one of the last years they could use the ‘N-A-S-A’ logo.”
Η συλλογή βγήκε για πώληση στις 27 Ιουλίου ενώ η NASA ιδρύθηκε στις 29 Ιουλίου 1958. Οι τιμές είναι όμως… αστρονομικές με το parka στα $1,878, το παντελόνι στα $422!
