Το ΣΚ που μας πέρασε, η Νike γιόρτασε τα 50 της χρόνια. Και οι ιδρυτές της, ο Phil Knight και ο Bill Bowerman γιόρτασαν το πως δημιούργησαν την εταιρία στην 1η Μαίου 1972.
Για να τιμήσει την επέτειο ο γίγαντας Nike, ο Knight μετέφερε στο Instagram την στιγμή που οδήγησε στην έμπνευση για τη δημιουργία του brand. Αυτό έγινε όταν η Onitsuka Co. τερμάτισε το συμβόλαιο της με την εταιρία Blue Ribbon Sports.
Τότε ο Knight ένιωσε ένα χτύπημα -“gut punch”. Με το γράμμα που έχει την ημερομηνία 1 Μαίου 1972, ο ιδρυτής της Nike έδωσε το πως γεννήθηκε ο μετέπειτα κολοσσός των αθλητικών.
“I remember thinking, ‘This is it – this is the moment. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. Our moment. No more working for someone else. If we’re going to succeed or fail, we should do so on our own terms, with our own ideas, with our own brand.’
And just like that, Nike was born.”
Ο Knight έγραψε ακόμη: “We had a dream, our love of sports, a ton of ambition, a trunk full of running shoes, and a big Swoosh on all of them. The rest is history. Our history.”
Σήμερα η εταιρία έχει αξία $194 δις.
“50 years of athletes helping athletes. 50 years of becoming stronger, faster, and more dynamic. 50 years of making mistakes, and becoming better from it.
And if we’ve learned anything from the past, it’s that we’re in for a hell of a future. #Nike50”
