Μια ιστορική πτήση σε σχήμα V. Σε μια πραγματικά ιστορική στιγμή, μαχητικά United States Air Force F-35A Lightning II αλλά και F-15E Strike Eagles που έχουν ως βάση τους…

…το RAF Lakenheath στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, πετούν μαζί με F-16 Fighting Falcon της 115 Πτέρυγας Μάχης. Η πτήση έγινε πάνω από την αεροπορική βάση της Σούδας και με την ευκαιρία τις άσκησης “Poseidon’s Rage 22”.

Για τις ΗΠΑ ήταν τόσο σημαντική στιγμή που τόνισαν πως είναι η πρώτη ταυτόχρονη τέτοια παρουσία μαχητικών 4ης και 5ης Γενιάς: “first concurrent deployment of fourth- and fifth-generation fighter squadrons by the U.S. Air Force in Europe to the same forward operating location”.

Συγκεκριμένα για την άσκηση είχαν προβλεφθεί τα παρακάτω:

From Monday 11 to Wednesday 20 July 2022 and within the framework of the international activities planned, organized and coordinated by GEETHA, will be held the Bilateral Interdisciplinary Joint Training of Greece and the USA under the name “POSEIDON’S RAGE 22”in various regions of the country.

During Co-education, which is of the LIVEX type (Live Exercise) and takes place for the second time in the context of the deepening of Military Cooperation between the two Countries, cross-sectoral operational scenarios of escalating intensity and complexity will be executed in a multi-threat environment as below:

Familiarization Flights.
Basic Defense Maneuver flights.
Combat training between different types of aircraft.
Air combat.
Low Altitude Shipping with Virtual Attacks of Surface Targets.
Air support with terminal fire guidance (Joint Tactical Air Controller – JTAC).
Offense – Support Naval Forces.
Fire at the Shooting Range SHIP.

Fighter Aircraft, Navy Units and JTAC Elements of the Special Warfare Command of the Greek Armed Forces will participate in the Joint Training, while from the USA 10 F-35 fifth generation multi-role stealth fighter jets and 14 F-15 fighter jets stationed at the 115th Fighter Wing in Souda with their support personnel. It is noted that during POSEIDON’S RAGE 22, for the first time:

Joint operational training development of US 4th and 5th generation Fighter Aircraft.

Deployment of an entire Fighter Squadron to another base.

Execution of training fires by F-35 Fighter Aircraft in the USEUCOM (US European Command) area of ​​responsibility.

Στην άσκηση μάλιστα και εκπαιδευτική πτήση εναέριας μάχης συμμετείχε στις 20 Ιουλίου ο Αρχηγός του Γενικού Επιτελείου Αεροπορίας (ΓΕΑ), Αντιπτέραρχος Θεμιστοκλής Μπουρολιάς.

Η διμερής άσκηση Ελλάδας και ΗΠΑ με την επωνυμία «POSEIDON΄S RAGE», διεξήχθη από 28 Μαΐου έως και 11 Ιουνίου 2021 σε περιοχές σε όλη την Ελλάδα.

Για το σκοπό αυτό, μεταστάθμευσαν στην Αεροπορική Βάση της Σούδας μαχητικά αεροσκάφη F-15Ε της US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) και το αντίστοιχο προσωπικό υποστήριξης τους. (Πατήστε εδώ)

Η «POSEIDON΄S RAGE» εντάσσεται στον συνολικό σχεδιασμό του ΓΕΕΘΑ για διεξαγωγή κοινών ασκήσεων με φίλες και σύμμαχες χώρες, ο αριθμός των οποίων το τελευταίο χρονικό διάστημα έχει αυξηθεί κατακόρυφα. Η διεξαγωγή της συνέβαλε στην επαύξηση του επιπέδου επιχειρησιακής ετοιμότητας και μαχητικής ικανότητας των συμμετεχουσών δυνάμεων και των 3 κλάδων των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων (ΕΔ) αυξάνοντας την διαλειτουργικότητα αυτών και αποδεικνύει έμπρακτα την άριστη σχέση των δύο χωρών με την συνεχή αναβάθμιση της συνεργασίας τους σε στρατιωτικό επίπεδο.
